We collect information you give us and information gathered automatically when you use the site.
Information you give us
- Contact and order details: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, and the book title, author name and options you order.
- Your book files: the interior and cover files you upload for checking and printing.
- Payment information: payments by Paystack or Flutterwave are handled by those providers and we do not store card numbers. For bank transfers we keep the amount, date and reference.
- Communications: messages you send us by email, WhatsApp or the site.
- If you sell with us: your author page details, the buyers’ order and delivery details needed to print and deliver their copies, and your payout details.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser type, IP address and general location.
- Pages visited and actions taken, collected through cookies and analytics tools (we use Google Analytics).
How we use your information
- To price, print and deliver the orders you place, and to check your files.
- To respond to enquiries, quotes and support requests.
- To process payments, match bank transfers to orders and send order updates.
- To run pre-order pages and pay authors their earnings.
- To improve our website and services, and to meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Providers who help us operate and fulfil your order: payment processors, our bank, hosting, email and analytics providers, delivery services and production partners. They receive only what they need (for example, a delivery service receives a name, phone number and address; production partners receive your print files and the specifications, not your contact details).
- Authorities when the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
Your manuscript and intellectual property
You keep full ownership of your manuscript and content. We use your files only to check and print your order and to keep them so we can reprint or help you. We do not claim ownership of your work.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working and to understand how it is used. You can control cookies in your browser settings; turning some off may affect how the site works.
Data security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide our services and meet legal and accounting obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Order and payment records are kept for the period the law requires; print files are kept so that we can reprint your book and are deleted on request once no order needs them.
Your rights
You may ask us to show, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict how we use it, or to stop marketing messages. To do so, email support@kobopublishing.com; we aim to reply within 5 business days. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the regulations of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). You may also complain to the NDPC.
Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
