Terms of Service. Effective date: 21 October 2026. These terms govern your use of kobopublishing.com and app.kobopublishing.com and the services of Kobo Publishing. By using our website or placing an order you agree to them.
Our services
Kobo Publishing provides book printing and related services: instant price quotes, print-file checks, printing and delivery, and optional cover design, interior layout, proofreading and ISBN. We also provide a pre-order store where authors sell printed copies of their books to readers.
Prices and quotes
The price shown by our online calculator for your chosen options is the price of your order, in naira. A quote that says we will confirm the price is not final until we confirm it to you. Prices can change for new orders; the price on your invoice stays as issued. Delivery fees depend on the delivery area and are shown before you pay.
Orders and payment
- The minimum print run is 25 copies. A single sample copy can be ordered to check quality before a run.
- Payment in full is due before work begins. Pay by bank transfer to our account using your invoice number as the narration, or online by Paystack or Flutterwave.
- We start work when payment is confirmed and your files are approved.
Your files
You upload print-ready PDF files for the inside and the cover. We check them automatically and tell you what to fix; a staff member approves them for printing. We print the files you approve. You are responsible for the content, spelling, layout and images of approved files.
Production and delivery time
Printing takes 5–7 working days after payment is confirmed and your files are approved, and your order is delivered in 7 to 10 working days from order to delivery. These are estimates in good faith; delays caused by late files or approvals, public holidays or the delivery service can extend it. Delivery times depend on the address.
Your responsibilities
- You confirm that you own or have the right to print all the content you submit, and that it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark or other rights.
- You will not submit unlawful, defamatory or infringing material, and we may refuse to print it.
Selling through our pre-order store
- You set the price per copy and any bundles. Readers pay Kobo Publishing (by bank transfer, Paystack or Flutterwave). We charge a platform fee of 7% of each reader sale, shown as its own line, on top of the print cost and delivery for each copy.
- A campaign runs for 30 days. If the minimum order (25 copies, or the higher target you set) is not reached, it is extended for another 30 days and you and your readers are told. We print and ship once the minimum is reached.
- Printed stock held for you after a run is kept for 30 days.
- Your earnings are added to your balance. Any amount you owe us is deducted first. You can withdraw once a month, from ₦20,000, and each withdrawal is approved by our staff before it is paid.
Intellectual property
You keep ownership of your manuscript and the rights to your work. We keep ownership of our own tools, templates and software.
Refunds and reprints
Refunds and reprints are handled under our Refund and Reprint Policy. In summary, printing is made to order and cannot be refunded once it has started.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kobo Publishing is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost sales. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the order in question. We do not guarantee any level of book sales.
Indemnity
You agree to hold Kobo Publishing harmless from claims arising from content you provide, including claims of copyright or trademark infringement, defamation or breach of law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes are handled by the courts of Nigeria.
Changes
We may update these terms; continued use of our services after changes are posted means you accept them.
